feeling so very very sad now. 2 accidents happened within 3omin of each other jus outside my hall. i was even "involved" in one of them. my bus collided with a car and the driver was trapped in his smashed car, bleeding and unconscious. called for the ambulance and the SCDF came only after 10+ minutes. and the ambulance? it came only after almost 20minutes. arent our ambulance and SCDF supposed to be very efficient? why did they take so long to arrive at the scene? and the SCDF took another 15min to get the driver out of the car, while paramedics performed CPR on him after arriving 20minutes later. 15min to saw get him out and 20minutes for the ambulance to arrive. before the main fire engine arrived with the motor, saw and equipment, the SCDF officers seem to be not serious in trying to get the driver out. the way they communicate to each other has no urgency. the rescue only got more serious after the main fire engine arrived. is that supposed to be the standard of a good and efficient civil defence force? was so angry and sad at the same time during the entire rescue session. hopefully the driver is alright. his injuries looked very serious. can only watched helplessly after i called the ambulance and waited for it to come. i am trained in 1st aid and yet there is nothing i can do to help but to call 995. a full 25 min elapsed from the time of the accident to the time he is put onto the ambulance. another ambulance arrived after the 1st ambulance went off, and the paramedic mentioned about another accident "on the other side". he doesnt even know which accident took place and where. what are they actually doing? these precious minutes could determine between life and death. so angry now that i feel like cursing and swearing. and what made my blood really boil is that when the accident happened, as the passengers alighted the bus, they just stood there, point point point, look look look, coment here and there, saying "haiyo", "oh no", take photos of the poor bleeding and unconscious driver, nobody blo**y he** bothered to call for an ambulance. 1 lady even asked me if i was calling the hospital after i hanged up the phone. this is like what the he**.
after the driver is sent to the hospital, i walked back to hall sadly, with a heavy feeling in my heart. and right outside my hall, at kent ridge bus terminal, i finally understood where "the other side" is. this accident is an even more serious one. glass was all over the road, parts of the car flew right across the bus park, the entire right side of the car was smashed in, the roof was partially ripped off and the boot was totally gone. wondered if there are any passengers or how is the driver's condition.
sigh.. this is really such a sad and tragic night. before this i was already feeling down and now the accidents. really hope that the drivers and passengers of the 2 accidents will be alright. can only look out for the news in the papers tomorrow or the day before.
